Last Saturday, April 12, we completed our second Walk Together Community Meeting in Asheville, NC. These gatherings create space to reflect on what’s happening on the ground since the Long March—covering advocacy efforts, community support, pressing concerns, and next steps.

In Asheville, we discussed a range of local issues, including hate speech in public schools, the need for adequate hurricane relief, capacity building, and the challenges and opportunities of collaboration across the region. A follow-up gathering is planned for May to bring more communities to the table and identify shared priorities and actionable steps. Thank you to the Center for Participatory Change (CPC) for partnering with us on this event.

Earlier, on April 5, in Northeastern Tri-County, we held a conversation focused on the current political moment, ongoing efforts to educate residents about Social Security, and strategies for connecting with key communities.

The next meeting will be in Durham on Thursday, May 8 at 6:30 PM at M&F Bank Corporate Center (2634 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd., Durham, NC 27707). Join us as we keep walking together—community by community, step by step.
